In the historic Deutschherrenhaus on the Deutsches Eck, the Ludwig Museum Koblenz presents top-class works of modern and contemporary art - with a special focus on French art after 1945.
The Ludwig Museum Koblenz is located in the restored Deutschherrenhaus on the famous Deutsches Eck and combines historical architecture with modern art. On four floors, it displays outstanding works of modern and contemporary art, mainly from the collection of Peter and Irene Ludwig. A particular focus is on French art after 1945, with works by Picasso, Dubuffet, Soulages, the "Nouveaux Réalistes" and the "Figuration Libre".
In addition to painting, sculpture and installations, the museum also impresses with the extraordinary Edition MAT, an artist's edition with movable and changeable objects. In the adjacent sculpture garden in the flower courtyard, visitors can discover important works such as the monumental thumb "Le Pouce" by César or the "Site of Memory and Forgetting" by Anne and Patrick Poirier.
With its clear focus on international contemporary art, particularly French art, the Ludwig Museum Koblenz offers a unique profile within the German museum landscape. It is a lively place that combines history, art and modernity and at the same time creates space for inspiration and dialog.
