A poetic dialog between image and word: Bildspiele - Sprachspiele opens the doors to surprising connections between visual art and concrete poetry.
Bildspiele - Sprachspiele in the Saarlandmuseum's Modern Gallery brings together works by the German conceptual artist Sigurd Rompza and the Swiss poet Eugen Gomringer. Together they open up spaces in which images become readings and texts build up visual references. In his works, Rompza explores the interfaces between rhythm and form, surface and repetition, while Gomringer's poems create poetic spaces from sparse linguistic elements - often more as a suggestion than a statement.
The exhibition is conceived as a dialogical course: visitors are invited to experience the effect of writing and images in direct juxtaposition and to reflect on the interaction between seeing and reading. Several installations create a visual echo in which language transcends the boundaries of the image - and vice versa. In addition, an accompanying program of guided tours, short workshops and interactive formats offers visitors the opportunity to try out their own poetic and artistic skills.
