The Museum of Modern Art Carinthia (MMKK), one of the central destinations for contemporary art in Carinthia, is located in the heart of Klagenfurt am Wörthersee. In the historic rooms of the former provincial gallery, the museum offers a lively exploration of modern and contemporary art across an area of around 1,000 m². Visitors encounter both established artistic positions and exciting, often surprising works by emerging artists.

The exhibitions change regularly and focus on themes that combine regional, national, and international perspectives. In addition, the Burgkapelle art space invites visitors to view experimental installations and projects that deliberately expand the traditional museum format. In the historic arcade of the inner courtyard, sculptures and object installations offer open access to the collection and artistic ideas.

The MMKK sees itself as a place of encounter—not only between art and the public, but also between generations and genres. With a diverse educational program, creative workshops, and interactive offerings, the museum opens contemporary art to all age groups and brings it to life.

As an integral part of Klagenfurt's vibrant cultural landscape, the MMKK complements the city's offerings with a modern perspective on the visual arts and invites visitors to engage in dialogue about artistic issues and current topics.
