Off to the Pöstlingberg - Linz's local mountain! A trip to the Pöstlingberg is an unforgettable experience, and not just for children. Whether it's the Pöstlingberg cable car, viewing platform, photo gallery, zoo, pilgrimage basilica or the fairytale and dwarf kingdom of the Grottenbahn Linz, there's something for everyone here. At the same time, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the city and the Danube from the Pöstlingberg.

The Pöstlingbergbahn Linz, one of the steepest adhesion railroads in Europe, creates a harmonious combination of nostalgia and modernity with its design. Starting from Linz's main square, it takes just 20 minutes to climb the city's 539-meter-high local mountain. On the way, it passes the Anton Bruckner Private University and Linz Zoo.
The carriages of the historic Pöstlingbergbahn Linz have been gently modernized. Whether you take the new train or the nostalgic carriages (only in summer), a trip up the Pöstlingberg is an experience for the whole family.

The magical ride on the grotto train
A round trip on the Dragon Express through the Grottenbahn Linz on the Pöstlingberg takes you into the world of dwarves, forest animals and fairy tales. Scenes from stories and fairy tales surprise you around every bend. Generations of children have already visited the famous ride and associate it with memories of their childhood. After all, the Grottenbahn is more than 100 years old.
After the dragon ride, you enter the world of fairy tales. The depiction of Linz's main square in miniature at the turn of the century takes visitors back in time. In the side alleys are scenes from well-known fairy tales that are worth seeing for young and old alike.

The animal kingdom on the Pöstlingberg
Linz Zoo is home to more than 600 animals. It is located halfway up the Pöstlingberg (accessible via the Pöstlingbergbahn). With a breathtaking view over the city, visitors can explore the native and exotic animal world in the zoo.
The tropical house with its unusual inhabitants, such as monkeys and giant snakes, is particularly worth seeing. The outdoor enclosures are home to meerkats, zebras, antelopes, kangaroos and many other species. The domestic animal park is home to some highly endangered, native and exotic breeds of domestic and farm animals.
Guided tours and special events for families are offered at Linz Zoo all year round.

Music on Linz's Pöstlingberg
The Anton Bruckner University for Music, Drama and Dance is an eye-catcher halfway up the Pöstlingberg. The modern building is enveloped by 365 slats that create an association with musical instruments such as the harp or piano.
Visitors can not only marvel at the impressive architecture, but also attend a variety of performances by the students. With ensemble and orchestral concerts, jazz performances, drama and dance performances, contemporary music concerts as well as lectures and discussion events, the Bruckner University is one of the largest cultural organizers in the region. Admission to many events is free.
