The Kunsthalle Gießen is a central location for contemporary art in the heart of Central Hesse. Housed in the new building of the Giessen town hall on Berliner Platz, it offers changing exhibitions on around 400-450 m² without its own collection. It presents current positions and artistic trends from all over the world - experimental, socially relevant and of high design quality.

The Kunsthalle sees itself as an open space for exchange that encourages dialog and offers a variety of educational formats. Visitors are already involved in the planning of the exhibition, whether through discussion formats, "Art Buzz" sessions especially for young culture fans or individual mediation talks, which take place during the current exhibition Hardest Kinds of Soft. Architecturally, the Kunsthalle boasts bright, flexible spaces in which paintings, installations, video and performance art are shown to their best advantage. Installations such as Céline Ducrot & Cathrin Hoffmann's Hardest Kinds of Soft show how the hall makes current themes visible and lives interdisciplinary collaborations.
