Contemporary ballet/classicalIn his creation for Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, the Spanish choreographer reinvents the legendary tragedy ofRomeo + Juliet. Inspired by Sergei Prokofiev's lyrical yet sombre orchestral work, Morau lends the classical drama a contemporary dimension. WithRomeo + Juliet, Marcos Morau creates a breathtaking visual universe with poetic musicality and a meticulously choreographed movement language, permeated by an ominous undertone.
Marcos Morau is one of today's most important choreographers. He runs his own dance company and is artist in residence at the Berlin State Ballet. He strives for a future in dance with new formats, in which opera, dance, and physical theater engage in closer dialogue than ever before.
