When the leaves turn golden and the mild rays of sunlight illuminate the alleyways of the medieval old town, Constance is transformed into an autumn paradise on Lake Constance. The largest city in the four-country region shows its most diverse side in September, October and November - between sparkling water, colorful landscapes and a wealth of cultural experiences.

Magic on the water
The autumnal "Round Trips in Autumn" of the Lake Constance boat companies (October 25 to November 23) are an invitation to experience the region from a new perspective. While the shores glow in rich shades of red and bright yellow, the snow-covered Alpine peaks pass by on the horizon on deck. If you want to combine culinary delights and panoramic views, choose the pleasure cruises: traditional onion tart with young Suser or hearty specialties such as meat platter and sauerkraut turn the cruise into a regionally grounded feast for the senses.

Splendor of flowers on the island of Mainau
The island of Mainau also celebrates autumn in opulent color. Around 12,000 dahlias bathe the southern slope of the flower island in a dazzling mosaic of white, yellow, orange and red. The popular Dinnele evenings in September and October combine hearty tarte flambée with regional wines in an atmospheric setting. The flower bulb market is a must for garden lovers, while the Count's Castle Festival (October 2-5) brings the baroque charm of the castle to life with fashion, music, wine tastings and guided tours.

Experiencing nature on foot or by bike
The gentle autumn days are perfect for exploring nature. On the SeeGang premium hiking trail, on walks in the Loretto forest or between the golden vineyards of the surrounding area, new perspectives of the lake and the Alps are constantly opening up. Cyclists can enjoy perfectly developed lakeside paths - whether they are ambitious or relaxed and enjoyable. Nature campsites such as Litzelstetten-Mainau or Klausenhorn invite you to enjoy short trips close to nature until mid-October.

There are special autumn tours for culture and adventure lovers: the "Golden Autumn - Constance Tour with Boat and Night Watchman" (from October 25) combines a panoramic boat trip with an atmospheric journey through the old town at night. Wine lovers can discover the oldest part of the city and the region's wine culture on the "Niederburg Wine Tour & Grand Wine Tasting" (October 9 & November 13).

Culinary diversity
Autumn also shows its fullness on the plates. The Lake Constance Fish Weeks (15 September to 12 October) celebrate local fish in creative variations, while the Game Weeks (18 October to 23 November) focus on regional game specialties. An insider tip: the Spitalkellerei Konstanz, which is celebrating its 800th anniversary this year, invites you to wine tastings in a historic setting.

Shopping with a view of the lake
As the largest shopping city on Lake Constance, Constance also attracts shopping enthusiasts. On Sunday (October 12), the stores open their doors from noon to 6 p.m., accompanied by an organic and regional market at the historic Konzil and the opening of the new station forecourt. If you want to round off your stroll, you can find autumnal delights such as cinnamon buns or pumpkin spiced lattes in the cafés in the old town.

Constance in the fall - more than just a travel destination
Constance in autumn is a place of deceleration and inspiration at the same time: colors, scents and sounds merge into an experience for all the senses. Whether active in nature, relaxing on the water or enjoying wine and regional cuisine - autumn on Lake Constance invites you to rediscover the city time and time again.
