The Isarphilharmonie in Gasteig HP8 in Munich-Sendling is Munich's most modern concert hall and has set new standards since its opening in October 2021. The striking, modular steel building houses a hall made almost entirely of wood with around 1,800 seats and an impressive room volume of almost 60,000 m³ - an acoustic masterpiece developed by Nagata Acoustics under the direction of Yasuhisa Toyota.
The light-flooded foyer is located in the listed transformer hall (Hall E), which still exudes the charm of industrial architecture with its red brick, glass roof and historic crane technology. Culinary delights, a library and sound culture are combined here to create an urban meeting place. Inside, the stage takes center stage: dark glazed wood on the walls and seats automatically draws the eye to the bright parquet floor of the stage. The almost square arrangement creates an intimate atmosphere that is ideal for classical concerts, film music with projection, jazz or pop - a versatile venue for the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, international guests and selected film events.
The Isarphilharmonie in Munich fits seamlessly into the long cultural landscape of the Gasteig - as a temporary but sophisticated sound and meeting space for classical music lovers and a young, open audience. Functionality, sustainability and an extraordinary listening experience make the building a new highlight for culture in Munich.
