When the hills of southern Burgenland come to light in spring and Schlaining Castle lifts its time-honored walls out of the winter fog, a festival begins in Stadtschlaining that seeks a dialogue between music, language and theater like no other: Klangfrühling Schlaining. The 2026 edition has the programmatic motto Λόγος (LOGOS) - a keyword that simultaneously means word, sense and reason and emphasizes the creative power of transfer between disciplines.
New this year is a pre-opening on March 4, 2026: a premature tone that arouses curiosity and stirs up anticipation for the comprehensive festival in May. The actual festival runs from May 9 to 17, 2026, and the main venue will once again be the Granarium in Schlaining Castle. This large, bright hall with its imposing castle wall combines historical charm and modern technology - ideal for evenings in which voice, instrument and space merge into a shared experience. In addition, the five districts - Altschlaining, Drumling, Goberling, Neumarkt im Tauchental and Stadtschlaining - are integrated into the program: The festival turns the region itself into a stage.
This year, LOGOS wants to explore forms of transformation and redesign: How changeable is language? How does sound transform meaning? And how does a creative transfer between thinking and doing come about?
These questions run through the highlights of the program: On 10 May, Philipp Hochmair opens with "Hochmair, wo bist du?" - a performance that combines theatrical voice and electro-acoustic soundscapes. Hochmair goes beyond the classical concert podium: Hofmannsthal's Jedermann, Schiller's ballads and language rituals become the basis for an intense, almost physically tangible self-questioning, accompanied by electro beats, distorted guitar and cello samples.

A poetic and poetic evening follows on May 14: Mavie Hörbiger and Clara Frühstück read and play "Robert träumt von Else" - a scenic approach to Schnitzler's Fräulein Else. Hörbiger's voice and Frühstück's piano create an inner space in which morality, dependence and self-determination become incredibly present.
On May 15, Erika Pluhar, Matthias Schorn (Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra) and Roland Guggenbichler meet in chamber music intimacy: texts, clarinet and piano intertwine to create an evening that brings poetry and musical empathy into a common breathing space.

The Vienna Symphony Jazz Project will conclude on 17 May: a powerful crossover that reinterprets symphonic themes through jazzy arrangements, allowing LOGOS to be experienced as a lively exchange of styles.
