The Kunsthalle Tübingen is presenting the exhibition Kunstschätze - Kunstschätze vom Barock bis zur Gegenwart aus Niederösterreich in cooperation with the Landesgalerie Niederösterreich and the Landessammlungen Niederösterreich.

Lower Austria has not only been a cultural region shaped by humans since the Palaeolithic Age. The province is also home to an important art collection of international standing. Under the title Kunstschätze - Kunstschätze vom Barock bis zur Gegenwart aus Niederösterreich (Art Treasures - Art Treasures from Baroque to the Present from Lower Austria ), a selection of these treasures from the Lower Austrian state collections will be shown comprehensively in Germany for the first time. With over 70 top-class works, the show focuses on painting, sculpture and photography as well as selected video works. Between the oldest work, a large-format Baroque altarpiece from 1772 by Martin Johann Schmidt, and the most recent work, a conceptual contemporary painting by Franziska Maderthaner from 2021, the exhibition spans an arc that brings the development of Austrian art history over the last 250 years to life.
