"In my opinion, the way we look at nature has a direct influence on nature. The aim of my work is to examine and influence the way we as humans view the (surrounding) world - for example, the forces of nature." Julius von Bismarck
In powerful images, with technical inventions and extraordinary experiments, Julius von Bismarck questions human perception and the relationship between man and nature. Whether storms, lightning, masses of water or fire - elemental forces of nature and extensive research trips are often the starting point for his groups of works, which combine an artistic perspective with scientific and technical approaches.

In spectacular actions, Julius von Bismarck whips up the sea, captures lightning or vacuums up plants in their original habitat. The resulting photographs, video works, kinetic sculptures and installations are visually powerful and do not shy away from the grand gesture.
KunstHausWien is dedicating its first major solo exhibition in Austria to the German artist in fall 2025. In addition to a selection of cross-media works from the last 15 years, Julius von Bismarck will develop a new work for the show in which non-human entities become protagonists. Von Bismarck's artistic research reveals the limits of the human perspective and challenges us to question the consequences of our actions on the environment.
