A fixed highlight in Schwerin's concert calendar: Beethoven's monumental 9th Symphony with the immortal Ode to Joy will be performed again this year. The Mecklenburgische Staatskapelle Schwerin, soloists from the music theater ensemble, the opera choir and the Schwerin Singakademie unite to create a musical symbol of hope, humanity and community.
With its rousing message and powerful musical language, Ludwig van Beethoven's 9th Symphony is one of the most important works in music history. Since its premiere in 1824, it has lost none of its radiance - in particular the setting of Friedrich Schiller's "Ode to Joy" in the final movement has become a worldwide symbol of peace and cohesion. Over the years, this work has become a traditional part of the concert year in Schwerin.
The conductor is Ingo Martin Stadtmüller, who leads us through this great work with sensitivity and precision. With tonal depth and a sure sense of dramaturgy, he manages to bring out the full emotional impact of this symphony. A festive end to the year - impressive, meaningful and unforgettable.
