Romanticism in all its facets - the Mecklenburgische Staatskapelle invites you to a multifaceted concert evening with works by Bonis, Saint-Saëns and Brahms. Under the musical direction of Luka Hauser and with the renowned pianist Gottlieb Wallisch, this evening promises to be a sensual and sophisticated listening experience.
Romantic soundscapes - three works, three perspectives: Mel Bonis' "Trois Femmes de légende" opens the program with a sound-poetic triptych. The composer dedicates herself to three iconic female figures - Salome, Ophelia and Cleopatra - and creates an atmospherically dense work of haunting expressiveness that combines both mythical depth and finely nuanced instrumentation.
Camille Saint-Saëns' Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor op. 22 is a work that already caused a sensation at its premiere in 1868. Composed in just 17 days, it continues to impress today with its formal originality and enormous pianistic brilliance. The internationally acclaimed pianist Gottlieb Wallisch interprets this virtuoso masterpiece with technical mastery and artistic depth. The concert concludes with Johannes Brahms' Symphony No. 4 in E minor op. 98 - a late work full of melodic intensity and compositional rigor. The melancholy mood and the masterful treatment of musical themes make this symphony a highlight of late Romantic symphonic music.
With the Mecklenburgische Staatskapelle Schwerin, conducted by Luka Hauser, this concert evening will be an impressive journey through emotional landscapes, grand musical gestures and quiet nuances - Romanticism in all its depth and diversity.
