When darkness falls over Regensburg in March, the city begins to shine - in a very special way. From March 12 to 22, 2026, the World Heritage City will once again be transformed into a vibrant stage for light art. After the great success of the first edition in 2024, the international light art festival RE.LIGHT is returning with a new edition - bigger, more intense and more international. RE.LIGHT Regensburg - a festival that sharpens the eye and inspires the imagination.
During these ten days, historic facades, hidden alleyways and well-known squares become projection surfaces for top-class works of light art. National and international artists present impressive installations, projections and interactive works that not only play with the urban space, but also with the emotions of the viewers.

RE.LIGHT Regensburg sees itself not only as an art event, but also as an invitation to conscious discovery. The curated tour leads through various districts of the city and makes familiar places appear in a new light. Hidden corners come to life through light and sound, while artistic works on public buildings, bridges and walls raise social and philosophical questions. Visitors experience Regensburg as a multi-layered landscape of light between history and the future - poetic, critical, playful. Sometimes minimalist lines run through the space, sometimes colors dance across Gothic facades or sound and light merge into a moving unity. Each installation tells its own story - of lightness and melancholy, of transformation, identity or silence.
RE.LIGHT remains accessible: admission is free and the art in public spaces can be experienced by everyone. This makes the festival an event not only for art lovers, but for the whole of urban society - and for guests from the region and beyond. It is a cultural highlight in the darker months of the year that brings people together and bathes Regensburg in a warm, vibrant glow.
