In Gotha, Friedenstein Palace and its holdings have been preserved as a unique ensemble with its historic representative rooms from the Baroque and Neoclassical periods, the Ekhof Theater and equally diverse and rich art-historical, historical and natural history collections, which are presented in three museums in the palace (Palace Museum, Historical Museum, Museum of Nature) and in the Ducal Museum. Here, baroque and Enlightenment thought and action can be excellently comprehended. The historic castle rooms and collections are managed by the Friedenstein Gotha Castle Foundation, which was established on January 1, 2004.

The worldwide uniqueness of this Baroque heritage in Gotha lies in the fact that, in addition to the palace building with its interiors and the remarkable palace park with orangery, all the collections have been preserved at this location for more than 350 years.
