What began more than 500 years ago as a small "fortress" has developed into one of the most beautiful and best-preserved Renaissance castles in Austria. Tratzberg Castle has often changed hands, suffered many strokes of fate and has been continually expanded. Today, Tratzberg Castle is one of the few castles that is still privately owned and even serves as the residence of the Goëss-Enzenberg family.

The romantic hunting lodge of the Habsburgs is considered a true Renaissance jewel among Europe's historic buildings and is one of the most valuable and best-preserved cultural assets of its time. The imperial palace has been in the possession of the Goëss-Enzenberg family for over 300 years, and they consider it their personal duty to ensure the preservation of this unique heritage for future generations. Every year, the gates are opened anew to take visitors on an exciting journey into the past. Immerse yourself in a world of emperors, princesses and knights - with an impressive audio tour set to music by actors. In the originally furnished rooms, you can experience the stories and fates of the owner families who have shaped Tratzberg Castle over the centuries. A magical fairytale tour is offered for young guests, where children can immerse themselves in a fantastic world. Exciting stories and magical tales make the visit an unforgettable experience for the little ones.

Emperor Maximilian's rooms exclusively
A rare special "Maximilian" tour takes visitors into the mysterious chambers of Emperor Maximilian I every Saturday at 2 pm. These are not open to the public during regular tours and are reserved exclusively for this special tour. As part of this private tour - which can only be booked online - you can explore the historically extremely valuable and fascinating rooms, which were specially furnished for the emperor by the Tänzl brothers. There is also history and stories about the Tyroleans' favorite emperor and his "liaison" with Tratzberg Castle, enriched with an exciting insight into the Renaissance period.

Hidden treasures, magnificent rooms.

Originally furnished rooms and parlors from the 16th century are a real rarity. Use the virtual reality tour to experience how the old castle fell victim to the flames in 1492, how the new castle was built in 1500 and how the magnificent Renaissance building was completed in the course of the 16th century, and then explore the original furnished rooms and the stories of the personalities who once lived here live.
Be impressed by the charm of the hunting hall with its hand-carved, life-size animal and hunting scenes. Stroll through the spacious arcades to the Fuggerstube and chamber before you are captivated by the magnificent Habsburg family tree in the large ballroom. Feel how the noble ladies of the past lived here in the women's parlor and queen's room. Let yourself be touched by the palace chapel before the armory surprises you with all its treasures.

A visit to Tratzberg Castle is only possible with participation in a guided tour. A "free" exploration of the castle is unfortunately not possible!
