The monographic exhibition of Marko Blažo (1972 - 2021) attempts to pack the extensive, indeed holistically complex work of this exceptional artist into a minimalist-functionalist container.

The exhibition does not follow a chronological order, but is formed by the self-movement of the artist's recurring motifs, who is aware of their associativity and layering, in which everything is connected to everything and "everything can be stretched onto everything". There are two exhibitions in one: in the "Cabinet of Drawings" we present mainly everyday "working drawings" and concepts by the artist in a horizontal, quasi-labyrinthine layout. In the bridge, we show more monumental realizations and surviving installations, including a black box with an immersive intrusion into the head/work computer of Marko Blažo.
The oeuvre of Košice artist Marko Blažo, who has unexpectedly fallen into oblivion, is one of the most original and consistent of his generation. After training in graphic design at the ŠUP in Košice, Blažo studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava in the early 1990s in Rudolf Sikora's quasi-free "open studio". In the decade after the Velvet Revolution, when society was still curious about new art forms and young people's creativity was clearly stimulated, Blažo's presentations (e.g. chewing gum "paintings" or various surreal objects and situational "play" installations) were immediately recognized for their distinctive poetics. It was a rich, romantic but essentially melancholic world.
