Delcy Morelos' first solo exhibition in Germany presents a new, expansive installation at Hamburger Bahnhof that deals with the themes of earth, indigenous knowledge, regeneration and the connection between nature and humanity. Directly related to the form, light, climate, sound and atmosphere of the exhibition space, the work "Madre" explores the actions, sculptures and environments of Joseph Beuys, which are on show in parallel in the permanent exhibition.
Delcy Morelos is known for her sensual, immersive sculptures and installations made from materials such as earth, clay, grass, cinnamon and cloves. Morelos (born 1967 in Tierralta, Colombia) has been working with drawing, painting, sculpture and installation for three decades. The Bogotá-based artist develops her artistic process by engaging with the colonial heritage and cosmologies of the Americas. She describes her art as an interweaving of materials, elements and knowledge. Since her first earth work "Eva" from 2012, she has been in an ongoing dialog with the earth to which she invites the public. In 2022, her sculpture "Earthly Paradise" was presented at the Venice Biennale. In 2024, her works were shown at the Dia Chelsea in New York, the Museo Moderno in Buenos Aires, the Pulitzer Arts Foundation in St. Louis, the Astrup Fearnley Museet in Oslo and the CAAC Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo in Seville, among others.

Following Naama Tsabar and Andrea Pichl, this is the third contemporary art installation by a female artist to be shown in parallel with the presentation of the Joseph Beuys collection in the Kleihueshalle at Hamburger Bahnhof .
Morelos' installation forms a counter-position to the actions, sculptures and environments of the Joseph Beuys works, which form one of the four permanent collection presentations at Hamburger Bahnhof.
