With Tyll, Theater Vorpommern brings a theatrical adaptation of Daniel Kehlmann's highly acclaimed novel to the stage—a story in which storytelling, wit, and existential depth come together.

The focus is on the legendary figure of Till Eulenspiegel, the mischievous vagabond and critical observer of his time. In an era of war, uncertainty, and political fragmentation, Tyll roams various regions and encounters people from different backgrounds and with different destinies. His pranks and experiences, sometimes comical, sometimes thought-provoking, defy simple interpretation and at the same time open up a perspective on the contradictions of a world in upheaval. In the adaptation, historical references intertwine with timeless motifs of freedom, conformity, and resistance, making Tyll a polyphonic narrative about resilience, identity, and the adventure of human life.

The production exploits the potential of this character to transform the stage into a space for thought and feeling: with a mixture of language, movement, music, and surprising scenic images, the play creates a narrative round dance that is both entertaining and thought-provoking. Tyll thus unfolds a theatrical dynamic in which coarseness and subtlety, seriousness and irony interpenetrate—an evening that takes the audience on a journey through times, moods, and human attitudes.
