The award-winning musical "BACK TO THE FUTURE - The Musical" celebrates its German premiere at Hamburg's Stage Operettenhaus in March 2026. The crazy adventure of Marty McFly and Doc Brown with their world-famous DeLorean Car promises an electrifying musical spectacle full of impressive effects, iconic characters and plenty of humor.
This story is an absolute cult: Marty McFly is a typical teenager of the 80s. Skateboarder, rock 'n' roll fan and totally fed up with his parents. One day, he is accidentally sent on a journey through time by his best friend Dr. Emmet Brown. Using a DeLorean converted into a time machine, Marty suddenly finds himself back in 1955. In order to put the present in order, he has to escape the past and send himself back to the future. Because before he can return to 1985, Marty has to make sure that his teenage parents fall in love in order to secure his own existence. A race against time begins.
The cult film "Back to the Future" from 1985 with Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly and Christopher Lloyd as Dr. Emmett Brown is one of the greatest classics in film history and continues to inspire generations of fans to this day. The success continues in the musical version: "BACK TO THE FUTURE" - The musical stays close to the original with its witty dialog and has won several awards, including the prestigious Olivier Award for Best New Musical.
The musical adaptation was written by Bob Gale, co-writer of the film trilogy, and features new music and lyrics by Emmy and Grammy award winners Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard. Silvestri also composed the iconic soundtrack for the "Back to the Future" series. In addition to the new songs, the popular hits from the blockbuster, including "The Power of Love" (Huey Lewis & The News), "Earth Angel" (Marvin Berry & The Starlighters) and "Johnny B. Goode" (Chuck Berry), are also part of the musical. It is directed by Tony Award winner John Rando. Thanks to a multi-award-winning creative team, the musical impresses with great graphic and lighting design, spectacular stage sets and innovative special effects in a class of their own. The audience is there live as Marty and Doc race across the stage at 140 km/h through the thunderstorm, narrowly escaping and breaking the time-space continuum. Particularly impressive: the full-size DeLorean.
