The Aargauer Kunsthaus is an open platform for art in Switzerland. In exchange with the public, the house creates a space for intellectual and emotional experiences. The Aargauer Kunsthaus sees itself as an inspiring place for discovery, research, dialog and enjoyment.

The comprehensive presentation draws attention to a multifaceted artistic personality whose work is one of the highlights of art in the first half of the 20th century. The exhibition, realized in co-curation with the Swiss Institute for Art Research, explores the relationship between free creation and commissioned art along the axes of "freedom" and "commission" and reveals the field of tension in which Augusto Giacometti (1877-1947) moved productively throughout his life as an artist and cultural politician.
