The Baden State Museum is the central cultural history museum for the Baden region. It presents the cultural diversity of Baden in dialog with artefacts from cultures around the world - with a special focus on Europe. The collections cover around 50,000 years of international cultural history. World culture, regional history and everyday regional culture are brought together and interlinked to create a comprehensive cultural-historical exhibition.

The headquarters are located in Karlsruhe Palace. In addition, eight other museums and archives are affiliated with the museum - from Bruchsal to Salem on Lake Constance. In the run-up to the planned general renovation of Karlsruhe Palace, an innovative collection concept was developed that shows new ways of working in museums.

The Badisches Landesmuseum sees itself as a place of education and experience that invites visitors to discover and explore. The collections offer thematic diversity - from the Stone Age to the present day - and allow visitors to engage with both historical and contemporary issues. A central concern is to offer all visitors open and barrier-free access to cultural content. A variety of educational formats are available for this purpose - both through personal accompaniment and media offerings. The selection of objects and thematic focuses is individual and target group-oriented.

The offers open up insights into past living environments in a lively and dialogical way. At the same time, we are constantly working on developing and continuing new formats - particularly in the area of digital mediation and participatory work.
