In the Swiss Alps, the expressive power of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner finds its home in Davos - in the Kirchner Museum, where mountain world and art merge.
The Kirchner Museum Davos is the place where the life and work of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner come together. From 1917 until his death, the artist lived in the mountains of Davos and was inspired by the rugged shapes and clear lines of the landscape. The museum exhibits one of the world's most important collections of his work: paintings, drawings, photographs and sketchbooks in which landscapes, figures and scenes appear with powerful color and expressive train formation.
The architecture of the house itself is part of the experience: the striking new building designed by architects Gigon and Guyer opens up to nature and creates a unique connection between inside and outside with views of the mountains. When you walk through the rooms, you not only experience the works of art, but also the environment that has shaped them. The intense colors, the vivid lines and the palpable energy of Kirchner's work make the visit an immersive experience - in which art becomes landscape and landscape becomes art.
