A journey of discovery into the tonal diversity of Johann Sebastian Bach: Bach's keyboard universe at the Haus der Musik Innsbruck invites you to experience rarely played masterpieces for harpsichord and rediscover the fascinating world of sound created by a Baroque genius.
A concert evening focusing on Johann Sebastian Bach's compositional creativity unfolds in the Great Hall of the Haus der Musik Innsbruck. Under the title Bach's Keyboard Universe, central suites and works originally conceived for the fortepiano will be performed—an instrument that combined the piano and lute in the 18th century and today possesses a special acoustic fascination.
The selected suites and partitas demonstrate Bach's ability to form complex structures and expressive soundscapes from simple keyboard music. The richness of his musical thinking becomes audible in a wide variety of moods and tempos: from the dance-like character of the suites to contrapuntal density and harmonic depth.
Lute specialist Peter Waldner performs these rarities with great musical sensitivity and technical finesse—a tonal bridge between historical authenticity and lively interpretation. Through the interplay of space and instrument, this concert offers an intense listening experience that brings the rich diversity of Baroque keyboard music to life in all its facets.
