Cellist Sol Gabetta and her ensemble Cappella Gabetta perform in the Great Hall of the Konzerthaus Berlin - a program full of music-historical traces and cello virtuosity.
Sol Gabetta and her Cappella Gabetta dedicate themselves to a special mission in the Great Hall of the Konzerthaus Berlin: the forgotten voice of cello history. Under the title "In the footsteps of cellist Lise Cristiani", Gabetta and her ensemble explore a repertoire that goes back a long way. The Frenchwoman Cristiani (1825-1853) was an early pioneer on the cello - in an era in which the instrument was rarely attributed to women. With works by Offenbach ("Prière et Boléro"), Rossini ("Une Larme") and arrangements by Mendelssohn and Donizetti, not only is a musical era reconstructed, but at the same time the cello's tonal power is revealed anew.
As part of these programs, the ensemble shows how historical ideals of sound, baroque elegance and romantic virtuosity can merge together. The hall of the Konzerthaus creates the perfect stage for this: with its clear acoustics, its central location in Berlin-Mitte and its aura of great musical history, the evening is an intense listening experience. Those who get involved in this evening will be served a concert that is more than just a collection of beautiful pieces - it is a musical portrait that combines past soundscapes with contemporary interpretation.
