A program full of power, sound and world premieres: at the 4th Philharmonic Concert in old and new guise, the Kiel Philharmonic Orchestra shows how music from young minds and great masters alike can inspire.
The concert will begin with the world premiere of her work Sliced by the talented young composer Yixie Shen. This is followed by the saxophone quartet "Signum" together with orchestra in Bernd Franke's concerto BlueGreen - a bridge between generations and worlds of sound. The overture to Richard Wagner's The Flying Dutchman then transports the audience to a stormy sea and a voyage of destiny. Finally, the impressive choral and orchestral work celebrates Carl Orff's Carmina Burana with full force - a sound, visual and emotional experience that transforms the concert hall into a vibrant centerpiece.
An evening full of contrasts: freshly composed works, mastery of the classics, music for the head and heart. This philharmonic concert shows how lively, surprising and thrilling symphonies can be today.
