In 1941, the old chapel of St. Sebastian and Rochus in Nendeln was demolished. The Historical Society had the baroque altar with figures by the Feldkirch carver Ignaz Joseph Bin removed and stored. In the years that followed, however, awareness of the altar's significance was lost and parts of it even ended up as firewood. The remaining figures and fragments are now part of the LandesMuseum collection.
Ignaz Joseph Bin's altar figures, in particular his carved angels, are among the most important sacred sculptures of the 17th century in Liechtenstein. The small exhibition shows the figures and altar fragments, tells the tragic life story of the artist Bin and traces the journey of the altar pieces to the museum.
