Step into a world full of romance and sin. A world in which boundaries are blurred, bohemians and royals are in each other's arms and party to excess. Pop the champagne corks and get ready for the most intoxicating night of your life!

Moulin Rouge! The musical takes you into an intoxicating world that is part nightclub, part dance hall, part theater, part dream world. Over 75 songs have been incorporated into the production, covering more than 160 years of popular music from Offenbach to Lady Gaga. "Moulin Rouge! The Musical" brings Baz Luhrmann's 2001 film classic (with Nicole Kidman, Ewan McGregor and Richard Roxburgh) to the stage of the Musical Dome. The opulent show invites the audience to immerse themselves in the wicked Paris of the turn of the century. Moulin Rouge was produced exclusively for Cologne in German - making this the world's first non-English-language production of the musical.
For the show, the entire Musical Dome was converted into the iconic red windmill of the variety show in the Montmartre district of Paris. The Cologne venue now shines in new splendor somewhere between nightclub, theater and dance hall. "We are writing a whole new chapter in the history of the Musical Dome here," explained Managing Director and Producer Maik Klokow.

A musical set in one of the world's most famous nightclubs naturally calls for choreography that does justice to the exciting location. The audience can look forward to erotic, sensual and exciting dances. The intoxicating, excessive and colorful show also incorporates 75 songs that cover the spectrum of the past 160 years of popular music history. There are many hits from the movie, including "Lady Marmalade", "Material Girl", "Roxanne" and "Your Song". Classics by Jacques Offenbach are just as much a part of the musical as new songs by international pop stars such as Lady Gaga, Adele, Katy Perry, Rihanna and Beyoncé.

In 1899 Paris, a young writer falls in love with the star of the legendary Moulin Rouge nightclub. But Christian and Satine's love is put to a tragic test when the influential Duke of Monroth comes into the picture. He wants to take over the financially ailing Moulin Rouge - and with it its "sparkling diamond": Satine.
Together with club owner Harold Zidler and the most dazzling bohemians in all of Paris - the brilliant but starving artist Toulouse-Lautrec and Santiago, the city's most fiery tango dancer - Christian stages a musical spectacle to save the Moulin Rouge and fight for his love.

With 10 Tony Awards®, Moulin Rouge! The Musical is the most awarded Broadway production of 2020, including not only an award for Best Musical, but also for the outstanding achievements of the creative team: directed by Alex Timbers, with book by John Logan, musical direction, orchestrations and arrangements by Justin Levine and choreography by Sonya Tayeh, Moulin Rouge! The Musical is an ode to truth, beauty, freedom and - above all - love.
