Danny Zuko, a tough guy and leader of the high school gang "Burger Palace Boys", has a romance during the summer vacation with Sandy, a romantic and naive girl who dreams of true love. The vacation comes to an end and the two break up, seemingly forever. But when Danny returns home, he discovers that there is a new student at his school - none other than Sandy. She's cute, but not exactly his type. Danny pretends that their summer relationship was just an insignificant fling. The situation comes to a head. But can love be stronger than resentment and vanity in the end?
Started in 1971 as an amateur show, Grease has not only made it to the big stages of New York's Broadway, but has also captured the hearts of musical fans all over the world. The cheeky story about first love set to rock'n'roll rhythms has already been filmed several times and is now coming to the stage in Dortmund - sung in English and with German dialog - in a production by musical specialist Gil Mehmert to remind everyone: "Grease is still the word!"
