The 2025 festival season promises musical superlatives – Schleswig- Holstein's most beautiful open-air stage will shine with two mega-compositions: Mozart's The Magic Flute and Bernstein's West Side Story . With these highlights, Eutin will once again be a meeting place for music-loving gourmets in the coming season .
Enchant the audience: The Magic Flute and West Side Story
Whether it's Mozart's opera " The Magic Flute" or Bernstein 's musical " West Side Story ," the festival maestro already reveal this much : the soloists will be captivating, the stage sets groundbreaking. Mozart fans are looking forward to the Queen of the Night's aria—" Hell 's revenge boils in my heart " —which is known to be one of the most difficult pieces to sing in the world . What a joy it must be to experience one of the most frequently performed operas in the German-speaking world outdoors !
West Side Story is also a work of musical magic : the modern version of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet became a worldwide hit as a musical - also through the film adaptation with Natalie Wood and Richard Beymer, which received ten Oscars .

The festival is famous not only for its musical blockbusters —operas and musicals— but also for its exclusive selection of concerts, ensembles , and orchestras. The current season features a special debut, a best- of collection of prominent musicals: From Broadway to the West End . The now legendary harmonies of Orchestra on the Rocks will once again have audiences swinging along— and with the gala evening Viva la Musica , festival guests will once again experience their beloved, dazzling finale in 2025 .
The new lake stage – because excellence needs room to maneuver
It's already considered a small masterpiece: the lake stage , designed by Professor Holger Moths and inaugurated in 2024. It offers approximately 500 square meters, three levels, 1,945 seats, a comfortable orchestra pit , and state-of- the-art stage and lighting technology. In short, it provides the appropriate space for the festival 's musical excellence .
