The Wolfgang Bonhage Museum Korbach, winner of the Museum Prize of the Sparkassen-Kulturstiftung Hessen-Thüringen, is located in the center of Korbach's old town, right next to the Gothic Kilianskirche church and the old market square of the former Hanseatic city. Housed in an award-winning ensemble of historic buildings and modern architecture, the museum is particularly impressive due to its modern didactic and visitor-friendly concept.

The 250 million year old fossils from the Korbach fissure, the evidence of historical gold mining and the baroque paintings of St. Joseph from the "Alte Waage" are outstanding. The museum, which opened in 1997, offers a tour through the history of the town and the region on an exhibition area of around 1,700 square meters. Among other things, Subconrector Carl Curtze explains what life was like in Korbach in 1840. The exhibition also focuses on the gold, iron and copper mining sections. The Korbach Museum is particularly child-friendly. In each section - always marked with the color yellow - there is a theme or an exhibit that is particularly aimed at children. The museum is named after the former mayor of Korbach, Wolfgang F. Bonhage.
