Groundbreaking composer and pianist! With around nine billion streams per year, Ludovico Einaudi is one of the most listened to neoclassical artists in the world. He will be performing solo on the piano at the Vienna Konzerthaus on two evenings – with his soulful music that moves between classical and minimalism.
Musical beginnings
Ludovico Einaudi was born in Turin in 1955. His mother, an amateur pianist, awakened his love of music at an early age. He studied at the Turin Conservatory and completed his studies under Azio Corghi at the Milan Conservatory. He then worked with composers Luciano Berio, whose assistant he became, and Karlheinz Stockhausen. In 1982, Einaudi received a scholarship to the Tanglewood Music Festival, where he first encountered American minimalism—a style that would have a lasting influence on his later music.
, icon of neoclassical music
The rest is history: Ludovico Einaudi achieved his musical breakthrough with his solo album "Le Onde" (1996). Inspired by Virginia Woolf's novel "The Waves," the album brought him worldwide attention and made him a defining voice of neoclassical music. But it's not just literature that inspires the Italian composer's work: nature, time, and emotions play an important role in his extensive oeuvre.
Ludovico Einaudi "Solo Piano"
Solo at the piano, Ludovico Einaudi unfolds the full emotional and tonal depth of his music. In this pure form, the characteristic elements of his style—repetitive patterns, floating harmonies, and subtle dynamics—are particularly effective. Hearing Einaudi's sound world in all its clarity and expressiveness: these two concerts offer a rare opportunity to do so!
