The Bündner Kunstmuseum Chur is one of Switzerland's most important art institutions. With its high-calibre collection, ranging from classical modernism to the present day, and an ambitious exhibition program, it occupies a special position within the museum landscape. Beyond the borders of Graubünden, the museum acts as a cultural resonance chamber that creates identity, initiates discourse, and brings international perspectives to the region.
In 2026, the Bündner Kunstmuseum will once again present a diverse exhibition program that brings together different artistic positions: from poetic room installations and photographic analyses of power to retrospective looks at influential figures in international art and design history. With its 2026 exhibition program, the Bündner Kunstmuseum Chur once again demonstrates how art can function as an open space for thought: sensual, political, poetic, and socially relevant—a cultural fixture that keeps Graubünden in motion far beyond the region.

Susan Hefuna
With Susan Hefuna, the Bündner Kunstmuseum is presenting the first comprehensive exhibition of the internationally renowned artist's work in Switzerland. The show provides a representative overview of a multifaceted oeuvre that encompasses drawing, photography, installation, video, and performance. Hefuna's works revolve around questions of place, time, and perception, transitions between private and public spaces, and cultural dialogues across borders. There is a particular focus on Graubünden as a space of diverse relationships with the world.

Daniela Keiser. Oregano
Daniela Keiser has created a multisensory, walk-in installation at the Bündner Kunstmuseum that interweaves image, language, and space. Large-format photographs refer to a traditional Indian art form whose ornamental symbols both suggest and conceal meaning. The painted floor of the exhibition space becomes a social field that facilitates exchange, movement, and new forms of communication. Sign language, as the fifth national language, plays a central role here—the museum becomes a laboratory for an expanded understanding of language and community.

Heiner Kielholz
Heiner Kielholz is regarded as a quiet but significant maverick within Swiss art. The exhibition focuses on interiors and still lifes from the last 15 years and offers a compelling insight into his poetic universe. In small formats, an intense examination of the inconspicuous things of everyday life unfolds. Kielholz's works are imbued with a special sensitivity that is often associated with literary parallels to Robert Walser.

Jules Spinatsch
Over the past decades, Jules Spinatsch has developed a broad and experimental body of work that encompasses photography, video, installation, and publication. His works examine social events and locations—from the Vienna Opera Ball and the World Economic Forum in Davos to prisons and nuclear power plants. Spinatsch combines documentary precision with semi-automatic processes in which chance and control generate new forms of imagery. The exhibition at the Bündner Kunstmuseum invites visitors to critically reflect on questions of perception, power, and media construction.

Thomas Hirschhorn: My Atlas
With My Atlas, Thomas Hirschhorn presents an extraordinary retrospective that brings together his work from the early 1980s to the present day in a personal cartography. Inspired by Aby Warburg's "Mnemosyne Atlas," a connecting system of images, references, and political and social references emerges. The exhibition offers a deep insight into the complexity of an artistic oeuvre that remains radically contemporary and constantly questions the role of art in social contexts.

Haussmann Studiolo
The Haussmann Studiolo exhibition is dedicated to the architectural and design work of Trix Haussmann and Robert Haussmann, two influential figures in 20th-century Swiss design. In a concentrated form, the show introduces the planning and conceptual foundations of their work and, for the first time, highlights the strong influence of the visual arts on their thinking. The "studiolo" becomes an intimate space for reflection on modernism, theory, and an independent design approach.
