The landmark of Monaco - the casino of Monte Carlo. Seen in countless films and whether you gamble or not, a visit to Monte Carlo's legendary marble and gold casino is a must for every visitor to the Principality!
There is no other casino in the world that embodies perfection and status as impressively as the Casino de Monte Carlo. This gambling oasis is a playground for the rich and famous, who come to the small principality on the French Riviera in search of their own personal fortune.
The Casino de Monte Carlo was created by the Grimaldis back in 1863. Back then, the family decided to take this step in order to avoid bankruptcy. Today, the casino is one of the oldest casinos in the world and is closely associated with the name Jules Touzet. It is thanks to this French architect that this magnificent building in the impressive Beaux-Art style with its pompous wrought-iron canopy was built. However, the undisputed highlight of the building are the two pavilions, which are decorated with domes and surround the entrance area.
Public and private playrooms and games rooms are also decorated with arched windows, arched doors, balustrades, garlands, mosaics, statues and small gold accessories. Almost 30 years after the casino opened, the gaming hall expanded and was extended to include an opera house, the Trente-Quarante gaming hall and the Salle Garnier concert hall. In the entrance area of the casino, two small towers with clocks attract attention. While one clock shows the time in Monaco, the other provides information about the time in Paris.
