The Carinthian Summer 2024 offers a brilliant program with concerts, readings and much more under the motto "Personal" from 6 July to 4 August. The new festival orchestra is the internationally renowned ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra and - particularly exciting! - the island in Lake Faak will also be played.

On July 6, 2024, the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor Joana Carneiro will open the Carinthian Summer with "Viva la Musica!" at the Congress Center Villach. The works of the Romantic period by Fanny Hensel, Clara Schumann and Louise Farrenc will be brought to life by this new festival orchestra. The audience can also look forward to the world premiere of a new piece by Hannah Eisendle. A special highlight of the evening promises to be the celebrated American pianist Claire Huangci as soloist, who will enchant the audience with her virtuoso skills.

On 8 July 2024, the Company of Music will present the program "Singet.Lobet.Bach." in the parish church of St. Jakob in Villach. will be presented. The motets by Johann Sebastian Bach, masterpieces of choral music, are the focus of this special evening. Under the direction of Johannes Hiemetsberger, the Company of Music will present these expressive vocal pieces with a successful interpretation that is interwoven with elegance and intimacy. On Friday, July 12, 2024, the Villach Congress Center will be under the motto "Longing.Passion.Fado." Cuca Roseta, an outstanding Portuguese voice, presents a modern interpretation of fado, combined with influences from jazz and bossa nova. Her silky voice and heartfelt lyrics convey the classic feeling of longing and melancholy that characterizes fado. This concert shows how traditional Portuguese music is enriched by new elements such as keyboards and drums.
The world-famous pianist Rudolf Buchbinder returns to the Carinthian Summer on 19 July 2024 and presents a personal program with sonatas by Beethoven and Chopin at the Congress Center Villach. The pianist has been part of the Carinthian Summer for over fifty years and will be bringing his unique expertise and passion for music with him again next year. The Ossiach Abbey Church will once again be the venue for a musical highlight on July 20, 2024. The young and talented Anastasia Kobekina, known as the "whirlwind on the cello", will present the music of the Serenissima from Vivaldi to Paganini in a magical setting together with the Basel Chamber Orchestra. "Opium" on July 22, 2024 in the Alban Berg Concert Hall in Ossiach promises an evening full of contrasts and emotions. Cellist Eckart Runge and pianist Jacques Ammon will immerse themselves in the sensual and rebellious currents of the 1920s with music by Kurt Weill, Erich Wolfgang Korngold, Gustav Mahler, Maurice Ravel and others.

Ossiach Abbey Church opens its doors once again on July 28, 2024 for "Out of Time". The Messages Quartet from Krakow is dedicated to forgotten works by Polish composers and the quartets of Brahms' friend Friedrich Gernsheim. The audience can expect a musical journey through forgotten treasures and masterful quartets. "Scriabin Mysterium" on August 1, 2024 in the Alban Berg Concert Hall in Ossiach will be a feast for the senses. Pianist Anika Vavic, supported by puppetry, dance and light, will create a total work of art from music that brings the multifaceted world of Alexander Scriabin to life.
The grand finale "A Soundtrack to the Stars" on August 4, 2024 at the Congress Center Villach promises a glittering conclusion to the festival. The Vienna RSO under the direction of Wayne Marshall celebrates one hundred years of Rhapsody in Blue and transports the audience into its own galaxy of film music with the revolutionary music of George Gershwin and the epic soundtracks of John Williams, namely works from Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Harry Potter and many more.
