The Rostock Museum of Cultural History is located in the heart of the listed Convent of the Holy Cross, a former Cistercian convent dating back to the 13th century. It is one of the most important cultural history museums in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and impresses with its exciting combination of historical architecture and modern museum presentation.
On around 1,500 square meters of exhibition space, the museum provides insights into the eventful history of Rostock from 1200 to 1850, supplemented by changing special exhibitions that highlight current and historical topics. Visitors can discover a diverse collection - from medieval sacred art and Dutch paintings to works of classical modernism, arts and crafts objects and historical toys.
