The Vaduz operetta stage celebrates its 85th birthday in 2025. The stage performed its first operetta, Das Waldvögelein by Georg Milke, in the Vaduz Town Hall in 1940. From 1940 to 1974, there was an operetta production every year; since 1975, performances have taken place every two years in the Vaduz hall - alternating with the Balzers operetta.
With Carl Zeller's successful operetta, the Operettenbühne Vaduz is returning to its traditional field. After the success of the Broadway musical Kiss me, Kate last year, Franconian joie de vivre and Tyrolean cheerfulness are now the order of the day. Last on the Vaduz operetta stage's program in 1995, we look forward to another guest performance of Vogelhändler Adam and his Christel von der Post in the Vaduz auditorium. The 60th season also brings a change of director: with Olivia Schaaf, Operettenbühne Vaduz is relying on a young director with Liechtenstein roots. She first appeared on the Vaduz stage in 2011 as assistant director for A Night in Venice. Now we welcome her as a director.
Carl Zeller's Vogelhändler from 1891 is one of the top operetta classics. Hits such as Schenkt man sich Rosen in Tirol, Ich bin die Christel von der Post and Grüass enk Gott all made the composer world-famous even before the turn of the century. The story of a young love that has to assert itself against the pursuit of power, foolish intrigue, favoritism and genuine erotic temptation is timeless.
Premiere February 1, 2025
Further performances: February 2, 7, 8, 9, 14, 15 and 16, 2025
