The Tonhalle Düsseldorf unites history, architecture and music in a unique way. Under its striking dome, tradition and modernity merge into a cultural experience that radiates far beyond the city.

An architectural jewel has stood on the banks of the Rhine in Düsseldorf since 1926: the Tonhalle. Originally built as a planetarium, the dome once offered a fascinating view of the vast expanses of our solar system. In the 1970s, the striking building was transformed into an impressive concert hall - a place where the cultural expanses of classical music, jazz, chanson, pop and cabaret unfold.

A comprehensive renovation in 2005 gave the hall its current appearance: since then, the interior dome has shone in gleaming metallic blue, interspersed with LEDs and sophisticated lighting. The result is a spectacular indoor starry sky, which has earned the Tonhalle its poetic nickname "Planetarium of Music".

Today, the Tonhalle is not only one of the most beautiful concert halls in Germany, but also one of the best acoustically. More than 450 events attract over 300,000 visitors every year. The Tonhalle is also the musical home of the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker, an orchestra with over 130 musicians and an almost 400-year-old tradition.
