ART SPACE stift millstatt will once again become a resonating space for contemporary movement art in 2025. Under the title DANCE @ ART SPACE, curator Andrea K. Schlehwein presents an extraordinary series of guest performances that explore the individual in dance and at the same time make it possible to experience the collective in artistic dialog. Three solos, three signatures - linked by a common search for meaning, identity and connection in a constantly changing present.

The choreographers Valentin Alfery, Anamaria Bagaric and Petra Peček present their works to translate personal and social issues into movement. Their solos are dance self-portraits that also point beyond the self. In them, elements from contemporary dance, urban styles, neoclassical, drama and language merge into impressive statements by a generation that does not see dance as an expression of ready-made certainties, but as an open space for thought.
What all three works have in common is a starting point in the present - a time characterized by instability, acceleration and ambivalence. Between self-assertion and dissolution, intimacy and publicity, a field of tension is created that is made visible by the dancers' bodies. Here, movement becomes language, emotion becomes analysis, presence becomes a political stance.

As part of the solo project[s], the artists also meet in an experimental residency format: three solos - developed in shared time, in reflection and exchange. They rehearse separately and yet together, allowing each other to be a mirror and resonance space. This balance of closeness and distance creates a productive dialog about individuality and community, about artistic freedom and solidarity.
The concluding performance evening on November 7, 2025 at 6 pm at ART SPACE stift millstatt combines the presentation of the dance solos with an artist talk. Here, the dancers will open up their work processes and share thoughts about the body, identity and the fragile boundary between I and we.
With TANZ @ ART SPACE stift millstatt, Andrea K. Schlehwein continues the line of turning the rural space into a place of international contemporary dance culture - sensual, concentrated, reflective. Millstatt will once again become a place of encounter: of body and mind, art and audience, individual and collective.
