Goethe's "Faust" rethought: The Schiller Museum in Weimar liberates the classic from the dust of school reading and transforms it into a sensory experiment about people, power and morality - interactive, surprising and more topical than ever.

No more dusty required reading: The "Faust" exhibition at the Schiller Museum turns Goethe's most famous work into a multimedia experience. Here you will not only encounter the crisis-ridden scholar Heinrich Faust and his diabolical antagonist Mephisto, but also timeless questions about knowledge, power, nature and responsibility - topics that seem more relevant today than ever before.

The exhibition focuses on modern forms of communication: typographic experiments, video installations and a collage of historical and contemporary "Faust" film adaptations open up new perspectives on the tragedy. In collaboration with comic artist Simon Schwartz, graphic designer Ariane Spanier and experts from the Deutsche Kinemathek, a lively dialog between literature, art and pop culture is created.

Thematic islands lead through central motifs such as the control of nature, gender roles and capitalism - and show how strongly Goethe's work reflects our present day. Particularly impressive are the objects from Goethe's own nature and art collection, which illustrate what inspired the poet's writing.

"Faust. An exhibition" is an invitation to rediscover the material - for connoisseurs, doubters and anyone who wonders why this classic still hits the spot today. A visit that brings literature to life and shows that Faust's quest for knowledge is also ours.
