The MIR is unique in the world and the only non-church institution dedicated to the history of the Reformation and Protestantism. Paintings, objects, books, engravings and audiovisual installations come together in 12 colorful rooms where you can marvel at two portraits of Luther by Cranach, a personal letter by Calvin or a testimony by Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Thanks to free audio guides in ten languages and augmented reality animations on 15 outstanding works, the MIR offers an unforgettable cultural experience for young and old alike. In collaboration with the Geneva Musée d'art et d'histoire (MAH), the MIR is presenting over seventy etchings by the great Dutch artist until April 7, 2024.

Exceptional collection
The exhibition includes 61 etchings from the MAH's Print Room, 10 from the Musée Jenisch in Vevey and one work from the Jan Krugier Foundation. The exhibition, curated by Bénédicte de Donker, curator of the MAH Print Room, follows a biblical chronology and leads from Adam and Eve to Abraham's sacrifice, Joseph and Potiphar's wife, the Good Samaritan, the resurrection of Lazarus and the crucifixion through to the Acts of the Apostles.

Light and dark, small and large
Exhibition designers Simon de Tovar and Alain Batifoulier focus entirely on the contrast between changing scales and light and dark. The small formats of the original etchings are enlarged two hundred times and projected onto the walls, with brown and blue competing for light and shadow. Room texts, biblical quotations, a film and visitor aids in ten languages lend additional depth and context to this unique collection of prints by the great Dutchman.

Print your own Rembrandt
Visitors can print a section of a Rembrandt etching themselves on a printing press based on a 15th century model and take it home with them.
