The Mucem's collections, which consist of one million objects and documents, are stored and made accessible in the Mucem's Center de Conservation et de Ressources (CCR). The center was specially designed by the architecture firm Corinne Vezzoni et Associés to house them. It opened its doors to the public for the first time in 2013 on the occasion of the European Heritage Days.

In September 2023, the CCR celebrated its 10th anniversary. 10 years in which the collections have been re-read, enriched, viewed and documented in an environment conducive to exchange and ideal for conservation. As the functional heart of the Mucem, this living center is intended to be an instrument at the service of the collections, the entire scientific team, but also all visitors. The Mucem team has been welcoming researchers, artists, students, the curious and school classes in the reading, lecture and exhibition rooms or in the depot rooms for 10 years. The enrichment of knowledge about the collections is based on these interactions.

To mark these ten years, the CCR team and the conservation team want to tell, share and pass on stories that revolve around the collection and the people who built it - collectors, donors, conservators. They have developed a particular view of society and its heritage, some of its prevailing ideologies, fashions and memories. The objects reflect life stories and social facts and make it possible to question our contemporary practices and what yesterday's society says about today's society. By appealing to curiosity, highlighting the old collections inspires wonder. The objects bear witness to the interaction of man with his environment, speak of rootedness and construction and are thus a resource for humanity that must be preserved and made known: this is the concern of all the museum's employees.
