The National Gallery in Prague, an important cultural institution of the Czech Republic, houses an extensive collection of works of art ranging from antiquity to modern times. As a center for art and cultural heritage, it offers visitors insights into the rich history and diversity of the visual arts, both from the Czech Republic and from around the world.

The series of prints with 24 views of the Krkonoše Mountains and the Adršpach Rocks, created by the graphic artist Antonín Karel Balzer (1771-1807), is a pioneering work of 19th century Czech landscape painting. For the first time, the focus was on the landscape and its natural wonders, which are admired in the individual pictures by figures that give scale to the vastness and grandeur of the surrounding natural landscape. The series of prints shows two important natural sites that became destinations for Romantic visitors and the first tourists in the late 18th century. The execution in the form of prints made these scenes more accessible to a wide audience and their hand-coloring more visually appealing.
