The "Mission Polaire" exhibition has been on display at the Oceanographic Museum since June 4, 2022. Five themed areas spread over two levels set the pace for this new visitor trail. From the discovery of the poles to the wild life they harbor and the people who inhabit and explore them. Objects and documents, digital content and immersive devices stand side by side and complement each other to create a 360° experience. Let the great journey begin!

Each visitor takes on the role of a field reporter on a polar mission. With their admission ticket, which materializes in the form of a "press card", they trigger additional content and information during their visit. At the end of the tour, visitors are invited to publish their report on the poles at an interactive terminal. A special moment that allows them to express themselves about these distant lands and to share what they have learned about them in a playful way. How can they do this? They chose a title, a cover and their own photos as illustrations, just like a reporter would.

In this way, they can create a souvenir of their expedition to these extreme areas to share with the whole family. If they wish, visitors can also get involved alongside the Oceanographic Institute and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation by actively supporting actions to protect the poles and in particular the creation of new marine protected areas in the polar oceans. Every visitor has the opportunity to do something in their daily lives to help protect these distant lands.
"The future of the poles is also our future," reminds Mélanie Laurent, the exhibition's patron, in a message to visitors, adding: "When your polar mission comes to an end, it actually begins here and now.
