Daniel Hafner's art production, which has always been characterized by the use of different creative means, increasingly relies on the potential of artistic action.
The "Modern People" installation is linked to a performance of the same name, which Hafner has already staged with other artists at various locations - her film recordings form a fundamental part of this spatial staging.
The concept is aimed at exploring public places: Their landscapes and objects, both civilizational-technoid and plant-based, offer an opportunity to enter into an understanding with the realities found there. The performers follow instructions in the form of symbols on stones and leaves. The (inter)actions performed represent subtle, quiet and attentive appraisals and redefinitions of our environment. They are often reminiscent of everyday and routine actions guided by the world of objects. "Modern People" directs our focus to "useless, discarded, disposed of, lost or fallen objects" - similar to the psychoanalytic process that pays attention to "little appreciated, unnoticed details" (Freud, 1914).
