North Sea air, village community, and lots of pop music: With "Nordseewind und Schlagerträume" (North Sea Wind and Pop Music Dreams), the Weyher Theater brings a humorous comedy to the stage in which a small coastal pub becomes the center of an entire village community.
In the tranquil coastal village of Pattensiel on the East Frisian North Sea coast, life seems to take its peaceful course. The village's meeting place is the pub "Zum Deichhasen," where people regularly gather for the so-called "Hasenparty" (rabbit party). There, they sing karaoke together, laugh, and cultivate a sense of community—a piece of home that has long since become an indispensable part of everyday life for many.
But this idyll is shaken when the landlord, Werner Beckmann, dies. As there is no direct successor, his daughter Laura, who has been living in Berlin for years, is to inherit the pub. Father and daughter had long been out of contact, but now her path leads her back to the small coastal town. Together with her ambitious fiancé, however, she plans to sell the pub and make way for new construction projects.
For regulars Petra, Matze, Lutz, and Philip, there is much more at stake than just a pub: the Deichhase is their meeting place, their second home, and a place where community is lived. They try everything to convince Laura that there is more to the inconspicuous building than just an economic project—namely, a piece of quality of life behind the dike.
The comedy by Kay Kruppa and Frank Pinkus combines North German humor with a lot of heart and a large dose of music. Well-known hits such as "Santa Maria," "Er gehört zu mir" (He Belongs to Me), and "Herzbeben" (Heartquake) provide lively karaoke moments and invite the audience to sing along—a cheerful evening of theater about friendship, solidarity, and the magic of a very special village life.
