The iron tower is also known colloquially as the Iron Lady. It consists entirely of iron latticework and is joined together with rivets. Each part was specially made at a different location and transported to the construction site by horse-drawn carriage. The individual parts were then assembled on site. The construction work took 2 years and 2 months. Today, the Eiffel Tower is a symbol of France and has captivated millions of visitors since its construction.
