A tribute to the history of the Mercato del sale and Ugo Carrega

The exhibition tells the story of the 20-year connection between the Mart and Museion. Both museum institutions share the extraordinary collection of the Archivio di Nuova Scrittura, which was donated to them by Paolo Della Grazia in 2020 and for which Ugo Carrega played a fundamental role. The exhibition revolves around the concept of the box - sometimes it represents a work of art itself, sometimes it serves as a container for Carrega's works - and pays homage to the history of the Mercato del Sale, where the artist worked as curator and director. Numerous artists were associated with the Milan project space between 1974 and 1989, all of whom are represented in the exhibition.
The Mercato del Sale remained active until the year of its closure in 1989, when it was replaced by the Archivio di Nuova Scrittura, founded together with Paolo Della Grazia and Giorgio Zanchetti.
