The two Spaniards Belmonte and Pedrillo travel abroad to rescue their lovers Konstanze and Blonde from the captivity of Bassa Selim. Using tricks and disguises, they try to outwit the guard Osmin, but are caught and arrested while trying to escape. To everyone's surprise, however, the four do not face death: Bassa Selim magnanimously renounces revenge and gives them their freedom.
With his Abduction from the Seraglio, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wrote an epoch-making work in the development of German opera - with brilliant coloratura arias, comic elements, lyrical passages and, as always, a groundbreaking question at the center: Who do you actually get to know better on a journey into the distance: the others or yourself?
