The multi-award-winning museum building on Schaumainkai gives you a comprehensive insight into the history of communication. Special features include the art and communication department and the lively children's workshop.
In the permanent exhibition "Media history retold!" you can experience the development of communication on 2,500 square meters. Using groundbreaking inventions, curious experiences and unusual fates, we span the arc from the cuneiform tablet to data glasses.
On the second floor, next to the hands-on area of the children's workshop, is the Forum - an exhibition space for smaller temporary exhibitions. On the 2nd floor, large temporary exhibitions are presented on an area of 550 square meters. There is a radio station on the museum roof, which is open every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month.
Special exhibition: Volker Reiche. Comic artist and painter
Following the STRIZZ comic exhibition in 2006, comic artist and painter Volker Reiche is now showing a complete exhibition of his work. He drew for the satirical magazines Pardon and Titanic and was the first German Donald Duck cartoonist. From 1984 to 2006, he wrote and drew the comic hedgehog MECKI for millions of HÖRZU readers and from 2002 to 2022 the comic series STRIZZ for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. The exhibition shows original drawings of his comics and is complemented by paintings that are closely linked to his work as a comic artist.
